The first taste has been an outdoor ice rink, installed since December. But there will also be biathlon, curling, a snow park and a ski jump. Visitors will be able to put on skis and skates or jump on snowboards (which they’ll be able to rent as part of the festival) every day from 9:00–18:00, Fridays and Saturdays until 19:00.
In addition to the sports themselves, visitors will also have a busy accompanying programme and meet a number of famous faces. The ambassador of the festival is the European Figure Skating Champion Tomáš Verner, who will take the baton from Lucie Šafářová at the opening. Aleš Valenta will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his golden triple back flip with five twists. And together we’ll welcome other athletes returning from Beijing. Hopefully having been awarded medals.

We’re happy that after the successful Brno Summer Festival we’ve taken the baton for the XXIV Winter Olympics. Nová Zbrojovka is gradually transforming into a vibrant part of Brno and will now also come to life as the sporting heart of the whole Czech Republic. Our chill zone is right in front of the ZET.Office building. In addition to cheering, we’ll gladly answer any questions about the area and, thanks to the new 3D model, we’ll also give you a glimpse of its future form. And you’ll meet Petr Švancara. Whether you’re planning to come to the festival or not, you can also be part of it through our social networks. On our Instagram and Facebook you’ll find interesting snapshots, videos and interviews every day.
Come and try new sports, cheer on the athletes, and be part of new great sporting stories. We look forward to seeing you!
The programme of the individual venues, including the possibility of booking a ticket, the accompanying programme, and all current information can be found at https://www.olympijskyfestival.cz/
Even though the event will be held mainly outdoors, we’ll certainly be observing all applicable anti-epidemic measures. What the situation will look like in February is now difficult to estimate. Together with the organisers, however, we’re cooperating with the South Moravian Health Station and we’ll immediately respond to any new measures and keep you informed.
